Nuclear research plea

11th May 2017

A new body to oversee the totality of publicly funded nuclear research is urged in the final report of the Nuclear Innovation and Research Advisory Board.

The board, headed by Dame Sue Ion, says the outlook for UK nuclear research is bright. It says delays in commissioning research had led to activity being "perilously low" and it was vital that new initiatives were sustained.

Nirab was set up as a temporary body. Ministers are considering a replacement.
